@Scotty_Ballgame’s WrestleMania 34 Predictions

8 Apr

Wrestlemania_34_Logo

I haven’t done one of my pro wrestling (err, should I say sports entertainment?) prediction pieces in a while. Today is the Super Bowl of Wrestling though and it needed to be done. This weekend in The Big Easy is the greatest weekend for a wrestling fan. My son and I were lucky enough to venture to Orlando last year and it’s an amazing experience! Believe me, my plans are already in place for next year when WrestleMania and all of the fixins’ returns to the NY/NJ area. I’m not going to go through what happened on last night’s NXT TakeOver (as I haven’t seen all of it yet as I write this, and I know many others haven’t either), so I will focus on this evening’s 34th installment of Mania. I was 14 when WrestleMania happened on March 31, 1985 in Madison Square Garden. That one event changed pro wrestling forever and just look where things are today.  Let’s get to the matches!

Cruiserweight Championship (Tournament Finals): Cedric Alexander vs. Mustafa Ali (KICKOFF SHOW)
The Cruiserweight tournament happened exclusively on 205 Live (on the WWE Network) and I can honestly say I don’t watch that show often. Why? Probably because I’m saturated with at least 6 other hours of WWE programming every week with Monday Night RAW, Smackdown Live on Tuesdays, and NXT on the Network whenever I get around to viewing it. 205 Live just hasn’t reeled me in yet. But… this will be an awesome match. Just like last year’s Austin Aries vs. Neville match that opened that show in Orlando. It could certainly go either way. Both of these guys are high-flying and technical experts. The unique thing here is that they’re both babyfaces (good guys) so I can’t just say the ‘face will win. Ali has been on a hot streak lately but my gut feels Alexander finally gets his big singles win in WWE. Winner: Cedric Alexander

5th Annual Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal (KICKOFF SHOW)
This is always a fun match. Heck, do you remember that Gronk interfered in last year’s event and helped Mojo Rawley win the thing? Big Show, Cesaro and Baron Corbin have won this big battle royal event in recent years as well. They don’t announce all of the names entered ahead of time as there are usually some surprises. My son Josh thinks NXT’s Lars Sullivan will be Braun Strowman’s mystery partner tonight (more on that match later). I have a feeling he’ll show up in tonight’s Andre Battle Royal. He won’t win though. NXT’s Killian Dane had a nice main roster cup of coffee in last year’s match and performed well, but they didn’t give him the win either. THE guy who’s been killing it on the mic and in the ring for the last several months is Elias (Who wants to Walk With Elias?) He’s already told us we’re going to see the performance of a lifetime tonight. Maybe he’s not talking about his guitar playing. Winner: Elias

First-Ever WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal (KICKOFF SHOW)
This is all about continuing the Sasha Banks/Bayley feud/storyline. They should have had a singles match at Mania so maybe they’re holding that off until an upcoming pay-per-view. I just can’t see it being held off for another 3 or 4 months until SummerSlam. I like several of the women slated to be in this match, especially Absolution stars Mandy Rose (who doesn’t?) and Sonya Deville. Like in the men’s battle royal expect a couple surprises, either NXT call-ups or returning legends. I would really like to see The Iconic Duo (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) who haven’t been on NXT TV for quite some time. This is one match I’m not really sure of where they’re going with the outcome, but I have a feeling they’re going to give Bayley that big WrestleMania moment so all of her hugger fans can be happy. Winner: Bayley

United States Championship Fatal 4-Way match: Randy Orton (Champion) vs. Booby Roode vs. Jinder Mahal vs. Rusev
If it weren’t for Orton this match would probably be on the Kickoff Show. Orton’s been a main eventer for years so he’s not going to be on any Kickoff Show.  Aside from the Women’s Battle Royal, this is one of the only other matches that I don’t really have a clear outcome prediction. What I’d love to see them do, and I’m going to lean that way here, is put over the most over entity in this match – Rusev Day. Yes, everyday is Rusev Day and the crowd absolutely loves this gimmick with which Rusev and his cohort Aiden English have been running with. It’s stupid, but it’s fun. So, your new United States Champion, the Bulgarian Brute! Winner: Rusev

RAW Tag Team Championship match: Cesaro & Sheamus (Champions) vs. Braun Strowman and a partner of his choosing
I love Cesaro and Sheamus. They don’t just set the bar, they are The Bar! What a great ride they’ve been on since Mick Foley put the two of them together following their best-of-seven series a couple years ago. Strowman is one of the most popular acts going right now and gets a huge pop every week. There’s so much speculation on who his partner will be. He’s said he wouldn’t have one and would take care of The Bar on his own, but management is forcing him to have a partner, which is only fair, right? It’s for the TAG TEAM titles. There’s really only one wrestler that fits in here. It’s a guy who’s been ready to come back from injury for a little while and I think they’ve just been saving him for Mania. I thought they were having him show up as a surprise during last year’s Rollins-Triple H match, but that didn’t happen. It’s Samoa Joe. No doubt in my mind. But do they win the titles? I have a sneaking suspicion they want to keep Strowman on the singles route, and that’s where Joe belongs too. Somehow, some way, champs retain. Winners: Cesaro & Sheamus

RAW Women’s Championship match: Alexa Bliss (Champion) vs. Nia Jax
This has been a fun storyline over the last several months, with Nia and Alexa’s friendship the main focus. They did the heel backstab angle which sent Jax off on a rampage and she’s looking for revenge in this big grudge match. Bliss entered last year’s Smackdown Women’s Championship match as champ and came out on the losing end when Naomi won in her hometown Orlando. I think the same thing’s going to happen here as she enters WrestleMania as champion and leaves on the losing side. It’s a big crowning moment for Nia Jax tonight. Winner and new champion: Nia Jax

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Triple Threat match: The Usos (Champions) vs. The New Day vs. The Bludgeon Brothers
I am so happy The Usos are finally on the big stage. It’s really unbelievable that they’ve been on the Kickoff Show for the past several years and I think this is actually their first match on the main WrestleMania card. Bludgeon Bros. Harper & Rowan have been wreaking havoc on SD Live since they debuted in their current gimmick. It’s pretty cool too. Usos and New Day have both taken some pretty good beat downs from them along the road to Mania. Something that I’m not thinking of is going to happen in this match. I can see the Usos and New Day teaming up to keep Harper and Rowan at bay, but maybe there’s a fourth team that makes their presence felt. Remember, there are no disqualifications in a Triple Threat match. Let’s go with a tremendous title retention here. Winners and still champs: The Usos

Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat match: The Miz (Champion) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Bálor
The Miz is on a roll. He’s one of the best on the mic. He’s a brand new dad! Jarrius “JJ” Robertson, the Warrior Award winner at Friday night’s Hall of Fame ceremonies, roasted The Miz and got one of the biggest pops of the night. Bálor is just plain good and he’s always cheered. I’m not just a big fan of Bálor Club gimmick. If he, Anderson and Gallows were really a team/faction that stuck together after a brief teaming a few months ago I might feel differently. The one constant here is Rollins. He’s constantly awesome. His performance in the Elimination Chamber was very good, and then his one-hour plus outing in RAW’s Six Pack Challenge last month opened my eyes again. He deserves gold. His crowning achievement was cashing in Money In The Bank and winning the title back at WrestleMania 31. I think tonight he wins the prestigious IC Title and follows in the footsteps of some of the greatest Intercontinental champions of all time – Randy “Macho Man” Savage, Honky Tonk Man, Owen Hart, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and so many others. Winner and new champ: Seth Rollins

Tag Team Match: Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
This one should be fun.  Owens and Zayn are “fired” and fighting for their jobs in WWE. Bryan is returning from a 3-year hiatus after finally being cleared by all doctors. McMahon is that big stage guy who leaps off TitanTrons and cages and goes coast to coast in the ring. Since Shane is actually coming off some serious medical conditions and procedures, I can’t see him risking his livelihood and future well being with another crazy spot tonight. It will be awesome to the the entire Superdome chanting “Yes, Yes, Yes” with Bryan. This is the scene of his biggest moment ever – winning the championship at Mania 30 four years ago. But this is not the night for the faces. Something’s going to happen and Owens/Zayn will win their jobs back. Winners: Owens/Zayn

SmackDown Women’s Championship match
For me, this is the match of the night. This could steal the show. Question is, do they give them enough time to do so. I know, that’s what most people are saying about the SmackDown WWE title match. Charlotte is the best women’s wrestler in the business today. Period. Asuka has been on this “undefeated” run (if you don’t count NXT live events in Florida from a couple years ago) since she came to WWE. She and Miz winning the Facebook Live Mixed Match Challenge vs. Roode and Charlotte was a perfect build to this match too. I’m really torn on my decision and the outcome of this match, primarily because I’m so jacked up to witness it. Thing is they’ve taken the title off Charlotte several times already, only to have her win it back, and I think that’s what’s going to happen here. Asuka continues the streak and dethrones the Queen. Charlotte will win it back at the next PPV or by SummerSlam. Winner and new champ: Asuka

Mixed Tag Team Match: Kurt Angle & Ronda Rousey (#TeamRousey) vs. Triple H & Stephanie McMahon (#TeamMcMahon)
This is easy. The heels (Owens/Zayn) win that other big tag team match so the faces have to win this one. Plus it’s Rousey’s big in-ring debut for WWE. The seeds of this one were planted 3 years ago at Mania 31 when she put Steph in that arm bar whilst The Rock was by her side at that event. Triple H and Angle will carry this match in the ring, and I expect to see some impressive things from Mrs. Triple H too. I just have no idea what Rousey’s going to bring to the table performance-wise, and they have enough other talent in this one to mask what she does. Just please keep Ronda off the mic. Thank you. Winners: #TeamRousey

WWE Championship match: AJ Styles (Champion) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
The Dream Match! This should be one of the best wrestling matches on tonight’s card. It’s a match much of Busted Open Nation is looking forward to. But it’s not the first time these two special athletes have faced off. They did back at Wrestle Kingdom 10 for New Japan Pro Wrestling in the Tokyo Dome. If you want to, check that match out here:

It will be a great match. It will be the most technical wrestling match tonight. They should get a half hour block of time for this one, with ring entrances, so maybe a 22-24 minute match. With my prediction of Asuka winning the SmackDown Women’s Title, I can’t see WWE putting over two Japanese stars with big title wins on the same major card. Plus it’s very apparent that Nakamura isn’t as big a hit with the WWE Universe as maybe they’d have hoped for. He was awesome in NXT. I just don’t think he’s awesome on the WWE main roster. Winner and still champ: AJ Styles

Universal Championship match:
How many people “hate” Roman Reigns? There’s been a lot of “hate” over the last couple years for Reigns because he’s been “shoved down our throats” and pushed to the hilt, in what some might argue was a quick, meteoric rise to the top. He was not cheered last year when he defeated Undertaker and seemingly sent the Dead Man into retirement. I don’t hate Reigns and he’s actually growing on me, and now, I am going to be a big Roman Reigns fan. I used to love Brock Lesnar. I still think he’s fun to watch and I know he’s a beast and a great performer in the ring. But he does not respect the business. He’s a bounty hunter and all about the paycheck. And now it seems as if he’s walking away from WWE again to return to the Octagon. That’s all I’m going to say about that. FU Dana White! I have two Lesnar shirts, both of which I think I might go live on Twitter or Periscope and burn them in effigy. Tonight won’t be Reigns’ first championship win but it might be the sweetest. Too bad it’s not going to close out the show. Winner and new champion: Roman Reigns

Does it happen? I believe it has to.
John Cena vs. The Undertaker
Cena doesn’t have a match at WrestleMania. He’s called out Undertaker several times over the last few weeks. No response from the Dead Man. Cena’s going to Mania as a fan and will be sitting in the front row drinking beer and eating popcorn, right? How can Kid Rock be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this weekend and not perform live tonight? He’s going to perform the WrestleMania theme song but how can he not go into “American Bad Ass?” And when he does that, how can Mark Calaway (either the Undertaker or American Bad Ass character) not come out? The Superdome roof will be blown off. You’ll be able to cut the electricity with a knife. How and what does he say to Cena? How and what happens in the match? I really have no idea although what I do know – it’s going to be so much fun to just sit back and enjoy the spectacle. I thought the storyline should have been Taker accepting Cena’s challenge a few weeks ago but with the stipulation that it be Career vs. Career, a Retirement match if you will. If they did that, wouldn’t Cena have to win because it should be Taker’s final match. Now since there is no stipulation (well there’s actually no match yet), this can be Taker, or American Bad Ass, riding off into the sunset with a victory. Cena will do the job and put Mr. Calaway over one more time. Definitely the way it should be, and I see this as the match that closes the show. Anyone else agree with me on this one? Winner: Undertaker/American Bad Ass

So let’s keep score. I usually don’t do well on my WrestleMania predictions, although if I look back at my WrestleMania VI predictions article that was published in The Daily Orange at Syracuse University, I do think I only had one or two wrong that night. I definitely had Warrior over Hogan!! The next big questions will be for Monday Night RAW and SmackDown Live. Will Lesnar be on RAW? If/when Reigns wins, who’s his first challenger? Will there be a new SmackDown GM if Daniel Bryan is back to being an in-ring performer? Who are the NXT call-ups to the main roster? When does the Superstar Shake Up happen? It’s an exciting time for wrestling fans. Enjoy WrestleMania my friends!

We will score using the fantasy scoring below.  There are twelve teams in the playoffs.  You need to select one player from each team.  For the team you create, you need to fill the following positions:

(2) QB’s

(3) WR’s

(1) TE

(2) K’s

(1) D/ST

Each week, you will score points based on your players’ performance.  As playoff teams lose, you will lose the player on that team.  Each team will always have the same amount of players, as the playoffs go on, you may end up having the same players as someone else.  You must also provide the total points of the Super Bowl.  This will be used as a tiebreaker.  If the team(s) are still tied after this tiebreaker, the money will be split

FANTASY SCORING

QB/RB/WR/TE

  • 1 point for every 10 yards rushing or receiving (rushing and receiving are scored separate and will not be combined)
  • 1 point for every 25 yards passing
  • 6 points for a rushing, receiving or passing touchdown
  • 2 points for a rushing, receiving or passing 2-point conversion
  • 3 point bonus for 100 yards rushing or receiving (rushing and receiving are scored separate and will not be combined)

  • 3 point bonus for 10+ receptions
  • (-2) points for an interception
  • (-1) point for a lost fumble by your offense or special teams that is recovered by the opposing team.  Fumbles lost and then recovered by your offensive player/their team or your special teams will not result in a loss of a point

*** Player cannot receive more than one bonus for hitting yardage milestones. i.e if you get 187 yards rushing you receive the 5 point bonus for 150, not the 3 point bonus for 100 and 5 point bonus for 150

*** If a player scores a special teams touchdown (punt return/kick return/etc.) and you have them starting at a different position, you WILL receive points for the TD, but not the yardage. For example, you have Danny Amendola as a WR, he has 23 yards rushing, 48 yards receiving and a punt return for a td.  You will receive 2 points for rushing yards, 4 points for receiving yards and 6 points for the punt return td for a total of 12 points. Greene family’s 2017-2018 Fantasy WWE draft & league

24 Apr

So the Greene boys are at it again.  Time for the 3rd annual Fantasy WWE draft and league.  Dad took 2015-2016 going away.  Adam ran away with the crown in 2016-2017 beating Dad by 185 points.  Josh is hoping to not finish 3rd for the third straight year and looks to have had his best draft so far.  By the looks of it, this could be the closest year and all 3 rosters are solid.  Adam’s has a lot of current champions as of April 24th, while Dad has a lot of contenders for those titles.

The first 25 rounds were drafted April 24.  Josh had the first pick since he finished 3rd this past year.  It was a snake draft so Adam had picks 3 & 4 overall, and then snaked back with Josh for picks 6 & 7 overall, and so on.  Our point scoring system is listed below the draft results.  We plan on having another 5 round expansion draft later this week, possible expansion rounds with the Cruiserweight Classic and Women’s tournament participants (who are undrafted), and then two other possible expansion drafts later in June and February.

 Round Josh Dad Adam
1 AJ Styles Roman Reigns Seth Rollins
2 John Cena Braun Strowman Kevin Owens
3 Bray Wyatt Finn Balor Bobby Roode
4 Shinsuke Nakamura Charlotte Brock Lesnar
5 Naomi Baron Corbin Tye Dillinger
6 Asuka Alexa Bliss Hardys
7 Bayley Samoa Joe Dean Ambrose
8 SAWFT Randy Orton Authors of Pain
9 American Alpha Jinder Mahal Neville
10 Anderson/Gallows Austin Aries Nia Jax
11 Sheamus/Cesaro Drew McIntyre The Revival
12 TJ Perkins SAnitY Sami Zayn
13 Hideo Itami Kurt Angle Chris Jericho
14 DIY Aleister Black The Miz
15 Carmella Usos Triple H
16 New Day Tyler Bate Ember Moon
17 Big Show Sasha Banks Mickie James
18 Rich Swann Luke Harper Dolph Ziggler
19 Roderick Strong Bollywood Boyz Undertaker
20 Becky Lynch Rusev Crazzy Steve
21 No Way Jose Tony Nese/Drew Gulak Paul Ellering
22 Jack Gallagher Mike Bennett/Maria Kanelis Paul Heyman
23 Golden Truth Kassius Ohno Billy Kaye/Peyton Royce
24 Andrade “Cien” Almas Mojo Rawley Emma
25 Kalisto Maryse Shane McMahon

Point scoring system:
Win WWE, Universal or Women’s Title (RAW or Smackdown)- 20
Retain WWE, Universal or Women’s Title – 10
Win Intercontinental, US, Tag Team, NXT, NXT Tag Team, NXT Women’s or Cruiserweight title – 15
Retain Intercontinental, US, Tag Team, NXT, NXT Tag Team, NXT Women’s or Cruiserweight title – 8*
Win UK Championship – 10
Retain UK Championship – 5
Pay-Per-View win (any others, not title matches) – 5*
Promotion to main roster (RAW or Smackdown) – 15
Legit heel or face turn – 10
Manager of wrestler who wins title – 5 for all titles unless WWE, Universal or Women’s (10)
Surprise return – 15 (must be true surprise, not known in spoilers)
Win Royal Rumble – 20
Win Money In The Bank – 20
Win Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal – 10
Win Cruiserweight Classic – 20
Win upcoming Women’s Tournament – 20
Win United Kingdom Championship Tournament – 15
Non-WWE talent drafted who debuts on WWE TV – 15
Induction into WWE Hall of Fame – 25
Live event attended in person – same scores apply if you own wrestlers on the card. It’s our incentive to attend live events.

*If a champion successfully retains title with a win on a PPV, he/she gets only the points for retaining, not the additional 5 for a PPV win. Example, Authors of Pain win and retain at NXT Takeover, they get 8, not 13. If they lose by countout or DQ but retains titles, they still get 8 points. The team that wins by countout or DQ does get 5.

Our 2017-2018 scoring begins with tonight’s RAW and tomorrow’s Smackdown Live, but we expect most initial points to come from this weekend’s PAYBACK pay-per-view.  Would love to hear comments, suggestions, further thoughts.  We’d also like to know who won the draft.  Which team looks to be the strongest according to the draft and our point scoring system.

For example, you have Julian Edelman as a WR, he has 23 yards rushing, 48 yards receiving and a punt return for a td.  You will receive 2 points for rushing yards, 4 points for receiving yards and 6 points for the punt return td for a total of 12 points. Additionally, any team with the New England Defense would also get the 6 points for that punt return TD.

Kickers

·        1 point for an extra point

·        3 points for a field goal from 18 – 49 yards

·        5 points for a field goal from 50 – 59 yards

·        7 points for a field goal 60 yards and over

Defense/Special Teams

·        1 point for a sack

·        1 point for an interception

·        1 point for a DEFENSIVE RECOVERED fumble (Offense recoveries score no points, and a forced fumble scores no points)

·        3 points for a blocked punt or field goal

·        5 points for a safety

·        6 points for a return touchdown (interception, fumble, kickoff, and punt returns)

·        10 points for a defensive shutout

·        7 points for holding a team between 2 – 5 points

·        3 points for holding a team between 6 – 10 points

  • (-1) point for a lost fumble by your offense or special teams that is recovered by the opposing team.  Fumbles lost and then recovered by your offensive player/their team or your special teams will not result in a loss of a point

2016 MLB Fantasy Baseball Playoffs Parlay

3 Oct

Hey all, It’s time once again for postseason baseball and the 9th annual Fantasy Baseball Playoffs Parlay! This pool makes watching all the playoff games so much more fun! We had 50 teams in the Parlay last year which was the most ever. Would be awesome to get 60+ this year. Please feel free to pass this on to anyone you know, and if somebody you know does want in, just make sure they let me know you referred them.

Here’s how it works. Cost to participate is only $10 per team. One owner may have a maximum of two (2) team entries.

RULES: Choose one (1) batter AND one (1) pitcher from each of the 10 playoff teams to fill out positions of a roster with your 20 players. You must have ONLY 2 players from each playoff team; one hitter and one pitcher – no more, no less. Do not have more than one hitter from the same team, or more than one pitcher from the same team, or your entry will be invalid.

This is a link to last year’s Google sheets spreadsheet with the entire Parlay stats and results so you can see how it all works: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14F31zpL0A3tlFhqWWqNWHIBSbv2_Qh__vyW3Kn-kEXY/edit#gid=1256386847

You must fill these positions with one hitter and one pitcher from each playoff team:
C
1B
2B
3B
SS
IF (any infield position)
OF
OF
OF
U (can be a batter from any position)
and 10 pitchers (can be either a starting pitcher or relief pitcher). May be any combination of SP’s and RP’s but must meet a minimum of 15 innings pitched combined for all pitchers in the Wild Card/Division Series round, then a minimum of 10 innings pitched in the Championship Series round. This is to prevent any team from picking only relief pitchers. P

***and Tiebreaker – see below

YOU are responsible for submitting a legal team. I will do my best to catch any errors, but if your team is illegal and is caught at ANY TIME, you will be eliminated and refunded your money. PLAYER POSITION ELIGIBILITY – An offensive player needs to have played a minimum of 20 games this year at a position to be eligible at that position. If an offensive player has not played a total of 20 games, then the position he’s played for the majority of games will be his eligible position. If you are picking a player that is only eligible at DH, then that player must occupy the U spot. Otherwise the U spot may be a player from any offensive position. Your roster will be 20 players to begin with, and as teams are eliminated, those players won’t accumulate any more stats for you. Any roster can have any player from any team, as long as you don’t have more than one hitter and one pitcher from a team. For example, if Minnesota made the playoffs (a stretch, I know), if one entrant’s roster has Twins 1B Joe Mauer that doesn’t mean any other entrant can’t have him. But you couldn’t have Brian Dozier and Miguel Sano on the same team. Pick whomever you’d like. Odds are there won’t be any exact rosters with all the possible combinations, but we have a Tiebreaker just in case.
*
*Tiebreaker – Pick the two (2) World Series teams, the winner, and in how many games.

The categories that we’ll use are the traditional 5×5 fantasy baseball categories – AVG, HR and RBI, Runs, and SB for hitters, Wins, Saves, ERA, WHIP and K’s for pitchers. Scoring will be done Rotisserie style, meaning…. However many teams are in the parlay, that number will be the most points available in each category. The leader in each category will get that number of points for the category, the 2nd place team in a category will get 1 point less than the max, and so on down to 1 point for the last place team in a category. For example, if there are 10 teams in the Parlay, the AVG leader gets 10 points, 2nd place team gets 9 points, 3rd place gets 8 points, and so on down to the last place AVG team getting 1 point. Maximum number of points in this scenario would be 100 (10×10). If there are 18 teams, then 1st place in HRs gets 18, second place would get 17, and so on down to 1. Maximum number of points in this scenario would be 180 (18×10). Stats will be cumulative, and the total stats after the completion of the World Series will determine the winner(s). I’ve attached the final spreadsheet from last year’s pool so you can see how everything’s laid out – team rosters, statistics, and standings per round.

PAYOUTS:
• The leader after the Wild Card/ALDS/NLDS wins 10% of the overall pot
• Winner of the ALCS/NLCS round wins 10% of the overall pot
• Remaining 80% of the pot will be split up to go to the 3 overall leaders after the World Series – 1st place (60%), runner-up (25%), and 3rd place (15%) of the 80%.
• In the case of a tie (even with the tiebreaker), the winning amounts for both places will be split evenly. For example if there is a tie after the WC/LDS round, the pot’s 10% will be split evenly to those leaders. If for example there’s a tie for 2nd place AFTER the World Series is over (and both teams have the same tiebreaker), then the 25% and 15% of the remaining pot would be totaled together and split evenly.

The 10 playoff teams are: • Boston Red Sox • Cleveland Indians • Texas Rangers • Toronto Blue Jays (WC) • Baltimore Orioles (WC) • Washington Nationals • Chicago Cubs • Los Angeles Dodgers • New York Mets (WC) • San Francisco Giants (WC)

Sample team:
C – Sandy Leon BOS
1B – James Loney NYM
2B – Joe Panik SF
3B – Jose Ramirez CLE
SS – Javier Baez CHC
IF – Stephen Drew WAS
OF – Andrew Toles LAD
OF – Drew Stubbs BAL
OF – Ezequiel Carrera TOR
U- Mitch Moreland TEX (or any other Rangers hitter)

All teams must be submitted to scotty.ballgame@comcast.net. Please write “MLB Playoff Parlay – YOUR LAST NAME” in the email subject line.

Team rosters are due by this Tuesday, October 4th prior to the AL Wild Card game. Deadline for submission is 8:00pm EST, no later. If you can, get your team(s) to me as soon as possible so I have ample time for data entry. Please forward this on to anyone you think might be interested.

I ask that all entree fees be sent by Friday, October 14th. Please make this easy on my part and submit payment on time. You can pay via PayPal or send a hard check in the mail. I will provide PayPal email address or my mailing address once I receive your submitted team(s). Teams with fees not received by 10/14 will be subject to disqualification from the parlay.

If you have any questions, please email me by the end of this weekend. If you think there’s anything I missed, or anything that could improve/enhance this Parlay, please let me know ASAP. Otherwise, put together a team or two you think will do well and send it over. Keep in mind, there’s a decent amount of strategy involved. I will email a spreadsheet with all teams’ rosters as soon as all of the data is entered, and detailed updates will be sent after LDS, LCS and World Series rounds. I am not able to send daily updates due to the time it takes to enter statistics and checking the spreadsheet to ensure all standings are accurate.

Follow me on Twitter at @Scotty_Ballgame as I’ll also tweet Parlay updates over the next month.

Good luck! Scott

WWE Money In The Bank predictions -6.19.16

19 Jun

I’m hoping for a good event tonight on WWE Network which would be a nice touch in finishing up a great Father’s Day.  Here we go…

Kickoff show
Golden Truth vs. Breezango – Who cares? I’ll go with Golden Truth since they lost the last time.
Dudley Boyz vs. Lucha Dragons – Lucha wins this one, but again, who really cares?

Main card
Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin – Series tied 1-1.  No way Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner Corbin loses the rubber match.

Rusev (U.S. Champion) vs. Titus O’Neill – This is easy. Bulgarian Brute successfully retains the U.S. Title by making the Gator tap out to the Accolade.

Charlotte/Dana Brooke vs. Natalya/Becky Lynch – They’ve been teasing some dissension in the ranks between Charlotte and Dana, so I believe that will come into play and cost the heels the match.  Look for Natalya to get either Charlotte or Dana to tap out to the Sharpshooter, especially since the Women’s title isn’t on the line.

Vaudevillains vs. Enzo Amore/Colin Casady vs. Karl Anderson/Luke Gallows vs. The New Day – Fatal 4 Way for WWE Tag Team Championship
This is a tough one to call.  New Day has held the titles for a long time.  Gallows and Anderson are the new blood and getting a huge push.  I don’t see Vaudevillains or SAWFT taking the belts yet. I’m thinking The Club gets the titles at Battleground or SummerSlam so I’m “banking” on New Day somehow winning the match and retaining the titles with some shenanigans.

John Cena vs. A.J. Styles – A decade in the making. Dream match. Should be great. I’m definitely feeling at least a 3 match series going at least through SummerSlam for these two.  That being the case I’ll be surprised if Styles doesn’t take Game 1. Winner – Styles, clean.

Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho vs. Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Sami Zayn – Money In The Bank Ladder Match
Zayn – NO
Del Rio – NO
Cesaro – NO
Jericho – NO, although he’s never one this match which was his brainchild. Would be great to see Y2J with the briefcase with the brand split coming next month.
Owens – I could definitely see KO grabbing the briefcase and being that “next in line” guy, but because of the other match on the card.
Ambrose – Unfortunately one of the guys I like least on the roster is probably going to win this match which builds the storyline of him being able to cash in on either of his former Shield brethren.

Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns (WWE World Heavyweight Champion) – Rollins is gunning for the title he never lost.  Reigns isn’t a good guy, or a bad guy, he’s just The Guy.  Yeah, right. There’s no way they’re going to make Rollins look bad in huge return, but I just don’t think he’s getting the belt back tonight.  Reigns is going to retain the title via countout or disqualification with Rollins getting the actual victory.  Then Ambrose will likely come out to attempt a cash in of Money In The Bank.  Before the bell rings he’ll get taken out by either Reigns or Rollins and be left laying in the ring, but still with the briefcase.

Projected Greene Family Fantasy WWE league points:
Josh – 5 (R-Truth), 5 (Kalisto), 5 (Corbin), 5 (Becky Lynch), Styles 5 – 20
Adam – 5 (Natalya), 8 (New Day retaining), 20 (Ambrose winning MITB), 10 (Reigns retaining) – 43
Dad – 8 (Rusev retaining), 5 (Rollins) – 13
